About me
Hi! I'm Ryan, thank you for your interest in my site. I am British and was born in the Lake District National Park, near to Manchester in England. I'm 26 years old and graduated with an Honours degree from Stirling University in Scotland. After completing my degree I went to South Korea to teach English as a foreign language.

I really enjoyed my time teaching in South Korea and so stayed there for three years. I taught English at three different schools and so taught many different ages and abilities of students, including both children and adults. I am TEFL qualified and you can see my qualifications on the next page.

My first year teaching in Seosan, South Korea

For the first year I was teaching in a private school, known as a Hagwon. I was mainly teaching students from six to fourteen years old. My teaching included grammar, conversation, listening and writing. I both used the 'Let's Go!' book series and made my own dynamic lessons. I also taught High School students and had two adult classes. I prepared my own classes with these students, which were mainly conversational classes to give them more confidence. For three months I taught eight managers of Dongkuk Steel, both Business and Conversational English.

My second year teaching in R.I.S International School, Seoul

In my second year I chose to teach in the capital of South Korea, Seoul. I was teaching  at the exclusive R.I.S International School, where I mainly taught kindergarten children.
I was teaching the alphabet, basic conversation, writing and listening to 5 and 6 year olds. I noticed huge improvements in the the children's confidence and ability to speak English, from not knowing any English to conversation level in just 3 months. In addition to Kindergarten children I also taught science to elementary aged students. We conducted exciting science experiments and the children learned English in a fun and exciting way. I did some extra one-on-one classes with students of between 8 and 13 years old. They were very shy, but there confidence soon increased as they gained better speaking ability.
My third year teaching in Hanam English Center

For my third year I was teaching near Seoul in a government funded English Center. I was teaching children of ages five to thirteen years old, in a really exciting environment. The education institute had many themed rooms, such as a full-sized aeroplane with immigration centre, hospital, police station, shopping mall and gymnasium. I had to prepare my own exciting themed classes for the children and sometimes would teach classes of up to nearly 20 students. I also planned and conducted special events and Performance Days.
Private tutoring

In my free time I was also doing private English tuition to adults. I taught a gentleman
one-on-one speaking and Business English. He worked as a top designer for Samsung electronics and he wanted to relocate to England or The USA. His
English ability was advanced level, although I helped him improve on weaker areas, like his vocabulary, listening and the pronunciation of words.
